August BoxyCharm

Hey everyone!!

Seriously, I get so excited and impatient when I know my BoxyCharm has shipped (lol) and of course mine always takes forever to come because I'm on the opposite side of the states.
BoxyCharm has been freaking amazeballs these last few months, I've probably said that before but they just keep on bringing it hard.
(did anyone else think of the movie Bring It On? okay so just me haha)

Check out my latest GRWM & Reverse Cut Crease I created with the August BoxyCharm.

So the theme this month is Beach Please.
Freaking love it, also fitting since it's the last summer month.
Maybe I just like it because I have a potty mouth lol.

On to the products!!

(swatches below from lightest shade Pearl continuing clockwise)

1) Rainforest of the Sea Vol. 2 by Tarte ($36)
I had to start with this because it's probably the one thing that everyone was excited for and also the controversial item in the box this month.
I was excited for this even more so because I don't really have many (if any) cool toned eyeshadow palettes which is kinda weird considering I'm fairly light and love cool toned lipsticks and contours.
The formula is definitely different than my other Tarte palettes as this is not one of their amazonian clay palettes, so I obviously didn't expect it to be the same.
These shadows are more of a classic pressed shadow but are still soft and creamy to touch yet more firm than their clay shadows and I honestly didn't see any fall out what so ever and even when I tapped off the excess there was just a little dust .
I had absolutely no problems picking up, applying, or blending any of the shades I've used (which was almost all of them) and it also lasted all day with primer of course.
They were more of a medium opacity pigmentation which made them easy to work with and built up freaking perfectly.
The colors all worked well together and this would be a good palette for everyday use, if you're into all cool toned palettes.
I would have never bought this palette myself because it was all cool tones but I ended up really loving this palette which surprised me.

2) Pro Eyelashes by PUR ($14)
I received the style Bombshell.
These were absolutely stunning!
They are super long, wispy, and have a tapered effect which I love.
The band wasn't super thick or stiff either so they applied really easy and didn't feel uncomfortable at all.
After seeing some posts online I was also relieved I didn't get the other style they sent out because it was a lot more natural and tame.

3) Moda Pro 3 Pc. Brush Set by Royal & Langnickel ($26)
Omg these brushes are beautiful, I tend to prefer simple designs so I loved the sleek black look of these, plus the textured matte black handle (holy f**k).
I used the powder brush and the crease brush so far.
The bristles are super soft and tapered, they blended out my powders quick and easy with little effort and I definitely plan to keep using these.
The third brush isn't really calling out to me as I'm not really into that style of contour brush.
I thought it might be good for baking under my eyes but turns out it's a little too curved in the center and just doesn't fit as well as I hoped but I plan to try it a few more ways before I give up on it.

(you can see above just how thick the product consistency is, it holds its shape completely when squeezed out)

4) Face Paint Lip & Cheek Tint by Aloette ($35)
I received the shade Blossoming Berry.
This was super thick, pigmented, creamy, and completely opaque.
The tiniest bit went a long way and if you use it how I did with just a tiny dab patted onto the lips, you can get a more natural stained look that lasted hours.
The tube did say it was more of a dewy finish but since I applied it super sheer and with my finger, I found that it dried down to more of a stained tint which was beautiful and more up my alley.
The product itself is really good and I also think this tube would probably last forever.
The only downside was that I'm not fond of the shade at all and don't see myself using it again.

5) Gel Effect Nail Polish by Adesse ($18)
I received the shade Suzannemi.
This shade is a very bright almost neon red with a slight pink undertone.
I'm not the biggest fan of getting nail polishes in my box even though I do my own nail at home.
My nails are probably the most neglected thing in my beauty routine, I just don't always have the time and I can't particularly see myself wearing this shade.
I also didn't try this yet, so I can't comment on the actual formula at all.

I loved almost everything in the August BoxyCharm with the only disappointment being the nail polish but that had nothing to do with the quality of that product at all, it's just nail polishes in general.

Mascara Fail

Hey everyone!!

Let's just get right to the point because this shit was disastrous.
So Maybelline came out with a new mascara and I honestly haven't heard anything about it at all, not before or after I bought it.
I discovered the Lash Sensational Curvitude Mascara by Maybelline ($8.99) while scrolling Ulta's new arrivals.
I love, love, love! The original Lash Sensational Mascara by Maybelline ($8.99) and I was looking to purchase a few mascaras anyways because all mine were getting kinda low and dry.
Could this be any more perfect? I needed it and there it was staring me down during my weakest hour (scrolling online at 3am on my phone).
The only noticeable difference and their selling point was that the end was a little more curved as you can see below.
The original mascara is amazeballs what could possibly go wrong right?

So just as you see it above that's how it came packaged (side by side with a cardboard backing and clear front) proudly displaying this wondrous new brush and obviously the tube came sealed with a separate cap.
I ripped open my package like a Christmas present, ooh'ed and aah'ed for a quick minute and also noticed that the wand head was a lot more flexible or flimsy than the original.
I put the wand into the mascara for tomorrow's play date since it was like 2am when this happened (I'm a night owl if you haven't noticed).

So the next day when I'm doing my makeup, that exciting time comes when I get to use my new mascara.
As soon as I opened it, it was instant disappointment.
WTF Maybelline.

Well that flimsy plastic head got all warped and hard from being in the mascara, maybe from the moisture that's the only thing I can think of.
The wand is now literally trash and I never even got to try it.
So once again, WTF Maybelline.
The only good thing is that I still had the separate mascara cap that came with the packaging and I ended up just screwing that on and I will just use it with my original Lash Sensational Mascara when I finish it.
I'm guessing it's the same formula as the original Lash Sensational Mascara because the only thing advertised about this product was the dumb ass brush but I guess I'll have to wait and find out.

If you were eye balling this I'd say pass on this and just go for the original.

I have to know who's tried the Lash Sensational Curvitude Mascara and if it happened to you as well.

Bright Summer Eye

Hey everyone!!

A few months back I did an Ulta haul and purchased the Brights Ultimate Shadow Palette by Nyx Cosmetics.
(see the Brights Ultimate Shadow Palette swatches)
Since then I've used it maybe twice but usually just one shade here and there for a pop of color on the lower lash line.
I decided it was time to do a complete eye look using the Brights Ultimate Shadow Palette and really try out multiple colors.
I created a bright and fun summer half cut crease, which a friend informed me reminds her of sprite lol.

See what products I used and the steps below to create this bright summer-y half cut crease look below.

Lid Lingerie Shadow Palette by NYX ($9.99)
(see swatches of this palette)

I took the lightest shade (shade 1) all over my already primed and set eyelid.

Brights Ultimate Shadow Palette by NYX ($17.99)
(see swatches of this palette)

I took the matte bright yellow (shade 1) lightly in my crease and blew it out.
I built this up in light layers until I achieved the pigmentation I was looking for, which btw is how I applied all the shades.
I took the matte turquoise (shade 2) in my actual crease and a little above but making sure I didn't cover the yellow, as well as in my outer corner.
I took the matte blue (shade 3) directly in my crease and outer corner, keeping it tight and slightly above where I'm going to make my cut crease.

Aurora Glow Kit by Anastasia Beverly Hills ($40)

After using concealer to carve out my half cut crease,
I patted Orion (shade 1) dry on a shader brush completely covering all of the concealer.
I then went over all the edges with the brush I used to apply the matte blue (Brights shade 3).
I patted Orion (shade 1) this time wet with the same shader brush over just the center of lid.
(TIP: finish this eye look with the Lid Lingerie Palette for an all drugstore, all matte eye look by patting on the lightest shade (shade 1) all over the concealer instead of the Aurora Glow Kit)

I finished my look with the Matte Liquid Liner by NYX
and some falsies but this would also look bomb with no liner and a super bold lash.

Overall the colors I used worked really well, they blended out so easily and the color built up better than I expected, leaving me with a bright and opaque color payoff.
I've been loving the NYX palettes I have tried more recently, I tried one of their shadow palettes a little over a year ago and I have to say I hated it, I found it chalky with poor pigmentation and blend-ability so they're clearly stepping up their game and formula with these newer eye shadow palettes they've released.
Have you tried these palettes? Love them, hate them?

July BoxyCharm Unboxing

Hey everyone!!

I can't even believe it's almost August which pretty much means it's Fall already right (lol)?
I'm so damn ready for it too, I was getting dressed the other day and it was all overcast-y outside and I had on black leggings and was about to put on a sweater until my husband pointed out that it was cloudy but still 108 outside and I looked crazy hahaha.
So I guess we're not actually quite there yet.
Ooooooooh by the way, I noticed that Bath & Body Works has some of their Fall Candles out already, I'm all over it.
The Fall & Winter collections are my favorite from Bath & Body Works a lot of the other collections are just so underwhelming.
Okay, okay this isn't about Bath & Body Works I swear once I start rambling hahaha.

It's the end of the month and that means it's BoxyCharm Time!!
This month's theme is Cutie Pie which is super cute and fitting for the season, it kinda just makes me want pie though.

I created the look below using all the products from my July Boxycharm.

So let's move on to this month's products (eeek).
You can also watch July's BoxyCharm Unboxing.

1) Electric Eyes Palette by Blinc ($45)
Sadly mine came shattered and every time I tell myself, "Fuck it, I'm just gonna play with it anyway" I end up making a huge mess that's not fun to clean up.
I've since cleaned up and re-pressed my pans but they seem super fragile and still messy because they keep breaking.
At least I was able to get all my blog and vlog things done still though.
Although I don't wanna comment too much on the actual formula because mine was a mess, I will say that the look I created with this came out beautiful, they were very easy to use and layer, and I got amazing pigmentation and finish without foiling.
I even used the lightest shade (champagne) as my highlight and it was fucking poppin'.
As you can see in the above photos.

2) Ultra Matte Lip by ColourPop ($6)
I received the shade Notion.
When I first saw the ColourPop packaging, it had slightly neon red/orange ends and I was like dammit I'm gonna have to give this one away.
After my drama queen moment I finally opened it to find that it was actually a plummy berry shade which is beautiful and I don't currently have anything similar to this right now, probably because I can't stop buying nudes, although in the tube it appears to be more of a raspberry it far more vamp-y than that as you can see.
I didn't find this to be patchy at all for a deeper shade and was able to get a fully opaque lip with one coat, I also gotta say this appears to have a slight metallic shift that is beautiful in the light.
It's super matte but that's what I prefer, so it doesn't bother me at all.

3) Uni Brow Universal Eyebrow Pencil by WinkyLux ($12)
I've never had good luck with "universal shades" and actually don't purchase brow products that come this way anymore, they're always too warm or too light for my liking as this one proved to have that problem as well.
The shade was lighter than my natural brow hairs which looked hideous and was noticeably too warm for my complexion and black hair.
I also am not a fan of the triangular/tear shape that this features and with an overly creamy formula it dulled quickly and was impossible to make use of the one pointed edge.

4) Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo by BareMinerals ($32)
I've had this in my shopping cart and have almost purchased it multiple times but it always lost out to something I wanted more at the time, so I guess it's a good thing that I waited because now I can take it off my list.
This duo is fucking perfect!!
The matte side sets your under eyes flawlessy but is very matte and wouldn't be great for someone with dry undereyes.
The glow side finishes the rest of your face with a slightly subtle luminosity that makes your skin look naturally radiant.

5) Spray. Set. Go. Makeup Setting Spray by Project Beauty ($32)
This stuff is fucking bomb, It's like literal hairspray for your face.
A little goes a long way with this product and pump combo, each spray pumps out a lot of product in a nice big cloud and I found that I only needed 2 sprays instead of my normal 50.
Even though my face was soaked it dried down withing 10 seconds and my face felt set but not tight or dry and it took down all the powder.
I really do think that this made my makeup look beautiful all day and I also feel like it helped keep me matte.
I do however still think that this is very overpriced for 2 ounces and wouldn't repurchase it for that price.

Sheet Masks Part Two

Hey everyone!!

So if you've been following me on any platform you probably already know that in June I used a sheet mask every single day for my Month of Sheet Masks.
In case you're catching up, I did do one check in before this.
Catch up with all that in my Month of Sheet Masks Part One too if you'd like.

I'm kinda shocked that I didn't even miss one day, most of the time I did my sheet masks at night because I tend to have more time for lounging around with a mask on, usually while watching Netflix or Hulu.

Since my last check in there hasn't been much change, I still have super hydrated, plump, and smooth skin but it's kind of balanced out and stayed this way the whole month which is fine with me because if you read part one then you'd know that's where most of the changes were noticeable.
So I can say that using the sheet masks everyday really did work but after hitting the point of maximum hydration, it was only maintaining the perfect balance.

In short I would suggest that if you're having issues with dry skin, sheet masks could definitely help you out.
You could start with a sheet mask everyday for a week to bring your skin's moisture levels up, then you can maintain it with a sheet mask every 2 days or so depending on your skin type.
That would give you super hydrated skin while also being more budget friendly than everyday.

*Fun Fact*
Sheet masks are essentially just an essence/serum soaked sheet and you could get the same results from just adding a hydrating essence/serum to your routine which might actually be cheaper than going this route but the sheet mask option is more fun and relaxing.

Onto the sheet masks used:

Revitalift Moisturizer Review

Hey everyone!!

Today is a skincare post because let's be honest, there is a shit ton of skincare products out there and with so many different skin types and needs it can get overwhelming when you're on the hunt for new product.
I mean with skincare being so fucking expensive, no one wants to blow money on shitty products. Especially if you're like me and never return things and instead they go into a sad pile that will eventually be garbage or given away.

So recently I started using the Revitalift Moisturizer by L'Oreal, I received mine free from Influenster and although this post in not sponsored and not required by Influenster, I blog so obviously I was going to blog about this.

Let's start off by saying I have combination skin (oily t zone/normal to dry face) which is currently more on the oily/normal side.

This moisturizer couldn't have come at a better time, I was wanting a new night cream and although this one is for day and night (which they wanted you to do of course) I was all in.
So basically they created the #RevitaliftChallenge which is a 14 day challenge using this product in place of your regular day and night moisturizer.
The Revitalift Moisturizer claims to immediately deeply hydrate and firm the skin,
Smooth out your skin's texture in one week,
and reduce fine lines and wrinkles in two weeks.

The first few days of using this I noticed my skin was very hydrated and even plump feeling throughout the day especially when I woke up in the morning or afternoon (don't judge me lol).
I did also notice though that my face felt slightly greasy and looked a little shiny even in the areas where I'm normal to dry, and it didn't seem to be fully absorbing into my skin and  leaving a thin residue all over my face.

It's really fudging hot where I live so lately I've been going makeup free a couple days a week or whenever I can, so it took me a few days to realize just how bad the residue was.
When I applied makeup over this it clung to the areas of my face that weren't absorbed and looked as though I had dry patches all over my face and if that wasn't bad enough it was also pilling up in balls on the sides of my face.
I really wanted to like this moisturizer so I kept using it but tried using less and sometimes not in my t zone.

At the end of the first week when I was checking out my skin in the mirror I noticed I was getting bumps all over my face, they weren't zits or clogged pores, more of an irritation maybe.
Obviously I stopped using the cream as soon as I saw the bumps and went back to my regular skincare routine and within a week my skin was back to normal and the bumps were gone.

It sucks that this didn't work out for me and obviously that doesn't mean it won't work for you but at least you can take this information into consideration and possibly save yourself some money.

Let me know in the comments below if you've tried the Revitalift Moisturizer.
